YOM Leads Cloud Gaming Revolution by Joining Forces with peaq to Launch NFT Node Sale

In a groundbreaking move set to redefine the landscape of cloud gaming and interactive experiences, YOM has unveiled an ambitious expansion to peaq, transitioning from its original base on Solana. This strategic partnership kickstarts with the launch of the Genesis Series, marking the inaugural NFT Node Mint within the peaq blockchain ecosystem. This initiative not only paves the way for enhanced collaborations and deeper integrations in the future but also reflects a significant leap towards leveraging blockchain technology in gaming.

The video game sector is poised for exponential growth, with projections estimating the industry to reach a staggering $312 billion in total revenue by 2027. As the entertainment industry’s juggernaut, it eclipses other major sectors like Hollywood and the music industry in terms of financial magnitude. Cloud gaming emerges as a vital segment within this thriving industry, offering gamers the luxury of experiencing AAA-tier games streamed directly to devices as humble as smartphones and smart TVs. This innovation bypasses the need for high-end PCs or consoles, democratizing access to top-notch gaming experiences.

However, the conventional model of Web2 cloud gaming services, hinged on extensive data centers, harbors environmental and economic drawbacks. Such facilities not only contribute to environmental degradation but also exacerbate the GPU market shortage, a consequence of surging demand from the AI industry. Furthermore, the financial outlay required to establish and maintain these data centers, coupled with challenges in achieving optimal latency, has been a persistent hurdle.

YOM ingeniously tackles these issues by eschewing reliance on traditional data centers and instead, harnesses the power of idle gaming rigs. This approach not only champions a more sustainable paradigm in cloud gaming but also empowers rig owners to monetize their assets by offering their computational power. Beyond fostering a more eco-friendly framework, this innovative model ensures reduced hosting expenses, lower latency, and creates a lucrative avenue for gamers to earn cryptocurrency rewards. Currently, YOM’s platform is optimized for Unreal Engine 5, a leading choice among game development studios, further enhancing its allure to both indie and AAA developers.

The impending integration of YOM with peaq commences with an exclusive node sale, inviting the community to acquire Genesis Node Licenses as NFTs on peaq. These NFTs are integral for participation in YOM’s DePIN, representing a pivotal step for community members. All pertinent details regarding the sale, including timelines and eligibility requirements, are accessible through the YOM website. This node sale initiative is designed to be open-source, setting a precedent for future DePINs on peaq to facilitate similar events. Post-sale, YOM is eager to explore additional avenues for collaboration within the peaq ecosystem.

Jeff Outlaw, CXO at YOM, expressed enthusiasm about the partnership, citing the strategic alignment and mutual benefits for both entities. “peaq’s robust Layer-1 chain offers the ideal platform for YOM and similar DePIN projects, enhancing our technical and ecosystem capabilities. This partnership accelerates our mission to deliver AAA gaming and immersive experiences more efficiently to a broader audience,” Outlaw remarked. He emphasized the streamlined processes and modular advantages offered by peaq, which allow YOM to concentrate its efforts on introducing games to the market more swiftly.

Leonard Dorlöchter, co-founder of peaq, shared his perspective on the collaboration, highlighting the transformative impact on the gaming sector. “The partnership with YOM represents a significant milestone in bringing the gaming industry into the Web3 era. YOM’s innovative model extends beyond conventional play-to-earn frameworks, offering gamers and rig owners a unique opportunity to generate income from their hardware investments,” Dorlöchter stated. He underscored the potential of this alliance to serve as a gateway for mainstream adoption of Web3 technologies in gaming.

YOM’s transition to peaq signifies the second instance of a DePIN project migrating from Solana to peaq, even preceding the upcoming launch of peaq’s mainnet. This strategic move follows similar migrations by other projects, underscoring a growing trend of DePINs opting for peaq to leverage its advanced technical capabilities and supportive ecosystem. As these platforms converge, the gaming industry stands on the brink of a new era, one where blockchain technology and NFTs play a central role in redefining user experience and engagement.
