New “Responsible Gaming” Diploma Offered by Coljuegos and ESAP Announced
In a significant development aimed at enhancing oversight and understanding of the gaming industry in Colombia, a new diploma in “Responsible Gaming” has been introduced. This educational endeavor is a collaboration between Coljuegos, the country’s gaming authority, and the Superior School of Public Administration (ESAP). The initiative underscores a concerted effort to educate public officials, industry operators, and the wider public on the regulatory frameworks and operational facets of the gaming sector in Colombia.
The innovative diploma program is set to commence on August 24 and is designed to be comprehensive yet accessible. Spanning 80 hours, the curriculum is divided into four thematic units, each focusing on different aspects critical to fostering a responsible gaming environment. What makes this program particularly accommodating is its digital delivery method, utilizing the Moodle platform. This approach was developed as part of the collaborative agreement between Coljuegos and ESAP, aiming to provide a flexible learning model for participants across the nation.
Marco Emilio Hincapié, the president of Coljuegos, emphasized the collaborative nature of this initiative. He stated that by partnering with various entities, the goal is to enhance the legitimacy of the gaming industry and provide insights into the regulatory work conducted by Coljuegos. This program is a testament to the commitment towards responsible governance and oversight within the gaming sector.
Jorge Iván Bula, director of the ESAP, expressed pride in launching the diploma course. He highlighted the program’s objective to enrich students’ understanding of the gaming industry’s significant role in the national economy and public health. By covering the industry’s origins, methodologies, and its societal functions led by Coljuegos, the diploma aims to equip participants with a comprehensive understanding of the sector. Bula further iterated ESAP’s dedication to being strategic allies of the State in fostering an educational environment that cultivates highly competent public servants.
The diploma’s curriculum is meticulously structured to address various key aspects over four units. The inaugural module delves into the history and mission of Coljuegos, exploring the company’s objectives, organizational structure, and the legal frameworks governing games of chance. Following this, the second unit focuses on the approaches employed by Coljuegos to curb illegal gaming activities, offering valuable advice on avoiding legal repercussions associated with unlawful operations.
Subsequently, the third unit provides an analysis of how Coljuegos distributes its revenues, offering insight into the financial flows within the sector. The final module presents an overview of the diverse types of games regulated by Coljuegos, including traditional, innovative, promotional games, and raffles, thereby providing a comprehensive view of the regulated gaming landscape.
Through this educational initiative, Coljuegos and ESAP aim to promote a deeper understanding among public servants, industry stakeholders, and the public, reinforcing the principles of responsibility and transparency within the gaming sector. As the program prepares to welcome its inaugural cohort, it signals a significant step forward in fostering a well-regulated and socially responsible gaming industry in Colombia.
