The individual, who had taken refuge inside one of the train’s cars, caught the attention of the authorities. After investigating, a 43-year-old was charged for trespassing under the Railway Safety Act. Authorities reminded the public that railways and surrounding areas are off-limits to unauthorized individuals and noted that trespassing carries a hefty fine of $500.
In a separate alarming incident, a hint from social media led to a significant police investigation in Windsor focused on child exploitation. Police from Windsor’s internet child exploitation unit were spurred into action following a tip-off from the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children. They uncovered alarming indications of child sex trafficking.
A social media company flagged a possible case, alerting officers to the suspect’s actions relating to child sexual abuse. The swift police operation led to an arrest on Wyandotte Street East. Several pieces of evidence, including electronic devices, were confiscated during the operation.
The investigation resulted in a 24-year-old man facing dire accusations of creating child pornography and orchestrating illicit activities against a minor via telecommunications.
