Prama India & C-DAC (MeitY) Unite for Breakthrough in Thermal Camera Technology
In an exciting development for India’s tech landscape, Prama India has joined forces with the Centre for Development of Advanced Computing (C-DAC), under the Ministry of Electronics & Information Technology (MeitY), embarking on a strategic partnership focused on Thermal Camera Technology. This collaboration was proudly announced during the inauguration of the ‘Digital India FutureLabs’ at IIITM in New Delhi, marking a pivotal step forward in nurturing innovation and promoting domestic manufacturing capabilities.
The collaboration specifically revolves around a ‘Transfer of Technology’ (ToT) agreement, under which Prama India receives the endorsement to produce, distribute, and provide support for state-of-the-art thermal camera solutions. This agreement was highlighted in a special event, ‘Digital India FutureLABS’, where Rajeev Chandrasekhar, Minister of State for Electronics & IT, took the stage for the keynote address and formally launched this forward-looking initiative.
Prama India, in expressing their enthusiasm for this partnership, mentioned, “This collaboration with C-DAC, Thiruvananthapuram, brings us a remarkable opportunity to further our efforts towards self-reliance in technology and manufacturing. Through this, we aim to contribute actively to the vision of Atmanirbhar Bharat, moving towards a more developed and secure nation. This partnership not only marks a significant achievement for Prama India in the arena of video security products but also reinforces our commitment to indigenous manufacturing.”
As part of the agreement, Prama India is acknowledged as the Technology Partner of C-DAC for the production of general-purpose thermal cameras. This certification underlines Prama India’s authorization to create, market, and offer support for these thermal cameras within the country, following the guidelines set by the Technology Transfer agreement with C-DAC in Thiruvananthapuram.
Prama India’s dedication to the mantra ‘Made for India, Made by India, and Made in India’ is further cemented by this partnership. As the pioneering indigenous manufacturer in the video security sector, Prama’s advanced manufacturing unit near Mumbai is set to play a critical role in positioning India as a leading global hub for the production and export of video security products.
Highlighting the broader significance of the ‘Digital India FutureLABS’ initiative, the Minister noted its potential as a springboard for Indian startups venturing into the next wave of electronics innovation. The sectors in focus include Automotive, Compute, Telecom, Industrial, and Strategic Electronics. This initiative is envisaged to grasp the trillion-dollar opportunity within the Electronics System Design and Manufacturing (ESDM) sector by leveraging pioneering technologies like AI, Big Data, and Quantum Computing, thus heralding a new era of technological advancement and innovation in Indian research.
