AFS Innovators Garner Acclaim for Groundbreaking Water-Saving Technology in Pune

A group of young innovators from the Air Force School in Jammu, dubbed the AFS Innovators, recently captured the spotlight for their novel approach to tackling water scarcity. Their project, “Bhu Jal Nirdharak,” was met with widespread acclaim at a prestigious event aimed at fostering the next generation of entrepreneurs through creative and sustainable technologies.

The project was showcased at the grand finale of the ‘Made in 3D – Seed the Future Entrepreneurs 2023-24’ contest, a collaborative effort between the Atal Innovation Mission (AIM) and the Fondation Dassault Systèmes India, held in Pune. Representing Jammu and Kashmir as the sole entry in this illustrious competition, the AFS Innovators stood out for their remarkable contribution towards sustainable farming practices.

The team’s innovative solution utilizes advanced sensors for precise soil analysis and groundwater detection, potentially revolutionizing how farmers manage water resources. Through their presentation, team members Savri Gupta, Arjunveer Singh, Abhinav Sharma, Hitesh Verma, and Ayush showed how technology could lead to significant advancements in agriculture, particularly in regions grappling with water scarcity.

Their impressive work did not go unnoticed. Prominent figures, including Dr. Chintan Vaishnav, Mission Director of the Atal Innovation Mission; Deepak NG, Managing Director at Dassault Systèmes India; and Sudarshan Mogasale, CEO of Dassault Systèmes Solutions Lab, were in attendance and expressed their admiration for the team’s initiative. The highlight for the youngsters was a direct engagement with Dr. Vaishnav and the CEO of Dassault Systèmes, during which they received valuable feedback and encouragement, a testament to their project’s impact and potential.

Arjunveer Singh, a ninth-grade student among the team, had a unique chance to interact with the industry leaders, an opportunity that provided enriching insights into the world of innovation and entrepreneurship. The AFS Innovators’ dedication and hard work were further acknowledged through the awarding of Virtual Reality (VR) headsets to the students and commendations to their guide teachers, Sarojni Pandita and Shanu Rani, for their unwavering support and guidance throughout the project.

Thejudge’s panel and attendees lauded the Bhu Jal Nirdharak, validating the necessity of innovative solutions in the fight against global challenges like water scarcity. Furthermore, the students’ visit to the Dassault Systèmes 3D Lab opened up new avenues for learning, underlining the importance of practical experience in education and innovation.

This accomplishment by the AFS Innovators at the grand finale in Pune not only underscores the vital role of young minds in shaping a sustainable future but also highlights the collaborative effort needed between educational institutions and industry leaders to nurture and recognize the innovative potential in our youth.
