Blue Brain at Neuroscience 2024: Unveiling of Simulation Platform

The Blue Brain Project is approaching its culmination at the end of 2024, marking the conclusion of nearly two decades dedicated to establishing simulation neuroscience as an indispensable pillar alongside experimental and theoretical research. To commemorate this remarkable journey, the project revealed its Blue Brain Open Platform at Neuroscience 2024, the most esteemed annual gathering in the field.

Held this October, Neuroscience 2024 drew the participation of over 22,000 scientists and a multitude of exhibitors, providing the perfect backdrop for Blue Brain’s unveiling of its cutting-edge simulation neuroscience platform. This comprehensive platform encapsulates nearly 300 research publications and a staggering 1 petabyte of data. The platform’s extensive resources boast over 260 publicly accessible repositories, more than 5,000 precisely reconstructed morphologies, in excess of 100k electrophysiological recordings, and hundreds of meticulously developed electrophysiological models.

A distinguishing feature of the platform is its collection of highly detailed models representing various brain regions, complemented by hundreds of in-vitro simulation experiments that can be effortlessly replicated. All these resources are thoughtfully integrated into a user-friendly platform designed to serve the needs of the neuroscience community.

The enthusiasm surrounding the platform was palpable, with nearly 200 participants delving into Blue Brain’s hands-on workshops. These sessions allowed attendees to actively engage with the platform, exploring its advanced capabilities and discussing its potential applications, all in anticipation of its official launch in 2025. The platform offers key features aimed at enhancing research precision and collaboration:

Aside from the workshops, Blue Brain’s booth attracted over 600 visitors eager to experience the full range of simulation neuroscience tools presented. Furthermore, the Blue Brain team proudly exhibited 17 posters, each highlighting the forefront of their latest research contributions.
