CryZENx, a self-proclaimed game designer, programmer, animator, and content creator, embarked on the journey to recreate “Ocarina of Time” using Unreal Engine 5.5. This venture began eight years ago, and the dedicated Zelda enthusiast recently shared the progress of this impressive project via a new video on his channel.
The video prominently features the well-known Kakariko Village from the game, brought to life with breathtaking lighting effects powered by Unreal Engine’s Lumen technology. Moreover, the project effectively employs AI upscaling, and plans are in place to incorporate support for DLSS, FSR, and real-time ray tracing, ensuring an even more immersive experience in the future.
Despite the significant work done over several years and regular online updates about the remake, Nintendo has not yet taken action against this fan-made version of “The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time.” Historically, Nintendo has been swift to intervene in similar fan endeavors, but surprisingly, this project has continued without interruption.
Though Nintendo’s silence might not necessarily imply approval, as evidenced by delayed actions in the past for other unofficial adaptations, the ongoing development of this 3D remake remains unchallenged for now.
