IIT Bhubaneswar and IG Drones Collaborate to Open Advanced Drone Excellence Centre
In an innovative leap forward, the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bhubaneswar has entered into a promising collaboration with the startup IG Drones. This partnership aims to pave the way for groundbreaking developments in the realm of drone technology, specifically targeting disaster management. The synergy between these two entities is set to materialize through the establishment of an Advanced Drone Excellence Centre, strategically located within the institute’s Research and Entrepreneurship Park.
This initiative is not just an ordinary cooperation but marks a significant commitment by IIT Bhubaneswar to immerse itself in the advancement of high-end technological solutions. Highlighting the significance of this collaboration, the CEO of the park commented on the vision that spurs this initiative. The ambition is to nurture innovation and entrepreneurship in sectors such as augmented reality (AR), virtual reality (VR), and now, drone technology, all of which align seamlessly with the institute’s ‘100 Cube’ vision. This vision aims to cultivate 100 startups with a valuation of Rs 100 crore each by the year 2036, coinciding with the centenary celebration of Odisha’s statehood.
The Advanced Drone Excellence Centre will enjoy a generous allocation of approximately 2,000 square feet of dedicated space. This area will be outfitted with the latest in technology and equipment, specifically designed to bolster research and development in drone technology. The centre’s focus will extend into methodologies and innovations that possess the potential to revolutionize disaster management through the application of drone technology.
