Gemini Split-Window: Expanding to More Large-Screen Devices
A remarkable development is underway in the realm of large-screen Android devices, transforming the way users multitask. Traditionally praised for their ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously, these devices are now further enhancing their split-screen functionalities with the inclusion of the Gemini app.
Large-screen devices like the Pixel Tablet, Pixel Fold, and the Samsung Galaxy Tab series are increasingly becoming more efficient multitasking hubs. Previously, Google’s Gemini app catered mainly to select Galaxy foldable devices, but it is now broadening its accessibility to other large-screen devices.
Reports reveal the appearance of a new split screen button within the Gemini overlay for Pixel Tablet and Pixel Fold users, a functionality that was once exclusive to the Galaxy Z Fold series. This new feature underscores the growing emphasis on multitasking, allowing users to conduct research, view videos, or listen to podcasts while simultaneously exploring information on the other half of the screen.
The Samsung Galaxy Tab series has also embraced this innovation, bringing the convenience of split-screen view to the Gemini app. Users can now initiate Google’s AI assistant and observe the Gemini’s overlay window with ease. The newly introduced button simplifies the process of utilizing either a floating window or a split-screen format, improving user experience significantly.
This augmentation comes in the wake of transitioning Google Assistant actions to be powered by Gemini. Users can now seamlessly send messages on platforms like WhatsApp and Google Messages directly through Gemini, a task that was previously the domain of Google Assistant.
Gemini’s integration is not limited to this development alone; substantial progress has been observed across several Google services. For instance, the Google Chat app recently introduced a summarize button made possible by the latest update. Additionally, Gmail for the web has integrated Gemini’s popular “Help me write” feature, along with a new “Polish” button to further enrich user interactions.
Anticipation is building for the release of the next version of the Gemini model, expected to debut in December. Tentatively named Gemini 2.0, this iteration is set to follow the current Gemini 1.5 Pro model, promising users an enhanced and more robust multitasking experience on large-screen Android devices.
