The Blood of Dawnwalker’s Campaign is 30 to 40 Hours Long, Says Creative Director
The highly anticipated title “The Blood of Dawnwalker” from Rebel Wolves was unveiled last month, spotlighting a captivating narrative centered around vampiric powers. While the gameplay itself is set to be demonstrated this summer, intriguing details have emerged regarding its structure. This gripping adventure comes with a unique twist—a 30-day and 30-night time limit, presenting a fresh approach that won’t pressure the player. Expect to engage in a roughly 30 to 40-hour campaign, which is notably different from the expansive journey offered by The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, a game that many of the studio’s developers have previously worked on.
In an interview, the creative director, Mateusz Tomaszkiewicz, discussed the studio’s ambitions for quality. “In terms of quality, we definitely look at AAA, because this is where we are coming from, the quality level seen in The Witcher 3. Our project isn’t as massive in terms of content and gameplay hours. As a smaller studio embarking on our debut project, we acknowledge we’re crafting something on a smaller scale. Yet, we aim to build something equally robust in terms of quality, albeit a bit more concise.”
Tomaszkiewicz reflected on comparisons with large-scale games, saying, “Comparing our work to something as massive as The Witcher, which was designed to be 100+ hours but often extended to 200 or 300 hours for many players, is truly mind-boggling. If sheer size is your benchmark, then certainly, we’re not operating at a triple-A scope like The Witcher. However, size isn’t necessarily the definitive measure. Consider that AAA games like the Call of Duty series don’t stretch into 100+ hour gameplay campaigns, yet they hold their AAA status without question.”
The Blood of Dawnwalker transports players to the mysterious realm of Vale Sangora nestled within the Carpathian Mountains. The story follows Coen, a protagonist undergoing transformation into a vampire with the mission of rescuing his family. The narrative introduces Brencis, the region’s dominant figure, against whom Coen must contend. Unlike many traditional protagonists, Coen isn’t depicted as an invincible force, nor is he equipped with flamboyant magical abilities. Nonetheless, players can expect to wield significant vampiric powers, providing exhilarating experiences against adversaries.
As for the release, The Blood of Dawnwalker is still in the development phase for platforms such as Xbox Series X/S, PS5, and PC. Though an official release date hasn’t been announced, anticipation continues to build. The landscape of Vale Sangora and the promise of a captivating vampiric saga ensure that players will have an immersive and action-packed experience on their hands.
