Grand Theft Auto VI (GTA 6) set for Fall 2025 launch, confirms Take-Two Interactive

The gaming community is abuzz with excitement as the much-anticipated release of Grand Theft Auto VI (GTA 6) has been officially scheduled for fall 2025. This confirmation comes straight from Take-Two Interactive, the parent company of Rockstar Games, during their recent financial earnings reveal for the fiscal year 2024.

In a move that adds precision to the previously broad announcement targeting the year 2025, Take-Two Interactive adjusted their forecast to a more specific fall release. “Our updated forecast narrows the launch window for Rockstar Games’ Grand Theft Auto VI to fall of 2025, demonstrating our commitment to this timetable,” announced the firm during their earnings presentation.

Take-Two’s CEO Strauss Zelnick, in a discussion with IGN, echoed this sentiment, showcasing a strong confidence in the new timeline. While fans have been eagerly awaiting more details, Rockstar Games has kept information under wraps since the explosive trailer release in December, which shattered records to become the most viewed game reveal on YouTube in the span of 24 hours.

Despite facing internal hurdles, such as the adjustment to return-to-office policies, both companies have remained steadfast in their resolve to launch GTA 6 as planned. The anticipation for GTA 6 isn’t without merit, as the preceding title, GTA V, has impressively sold over 200 million copies, trailing only behind Minecraft in the rankings of best-selling titles worldwide. This achievement underscores the global appeal of the GTA series and sets the stage for GTA 6’s potential to be a monumental success.

During the same earnings briefing, Take-Two Interactive reported a substantial financial loss for the quarter, largely attributed to goodwill charges and acquisition-related expenditures totaling $2.9 billion. Nevertheless, the conglomerate is optimistic about the future, forecasting net bookings in the range of $5.55 to $5.65 billion for the fiscal year 2025—an estimate that notably does not consider the revenue from GTA 6, as it falls into the subsequent fiscal year.

Set against the vibrant backdrop of a fictional version of Florida named Leonida, GTA 6 promises to immerse players in the lives of its two main protagonists, Lucia and an as-yet-unnamed male character. Upon release, the title will roll out on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S platforms, with a PC version slated for release at a later date. Rockstar Games assures fans that GTA 6 will deliver an unrivaled entertainment experience, reinforcing the brand’s legacy as a pioneer in the gaming world.

As the fall of 2025 approaches, the anticipation for Grand Theft Auto VI continues to build. Players around the globe are keen to dive back into Rockstar’s meticulously crafted universe and explore the new adventures that await in the sun-soaked streets of Leonida.
