Tata Elxsi to Accelerate SDV Adoption for Next Generation Mobility with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon Automotive Platforms
Tata Elxsi, Inc. has unveiled its ambitious initiative to collaborate with Qualcomm Technologies, Inc., purposed at developing and leveraging virtual models built around Snapdragon® Digital Chassis™ solutions to instigate cloud-native application development. This dynamic collaboration is set to be unveiled at the highly anticipated Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2025. By merging expertise, Tata Elxsi will create a virtual electronic control unit (ECU) platform tailored for automakers and Tier-1 suppliers. This will be powered by Snapdragon virtual system-on-chips (VSoCs), pioneering a new wave of mobility solutions across passenger, commercial, and off-highway vehicle sectors.
With a foresight to redefine the Software Defined Vehicle (SDV) development landscape, Tata Elxsi seeks to harness the potential of the Snapdragon Digital Chassis VSoCs. This strategic initiative aims to accelerate the software development and validation phases, thereby reducing dependency on hardware availability. The ultimate goal being to streamline and speed up the development lifecycle, ensuring cutting-edge mobility solutions hit the market more swiftly and economically.
CES 2025 will serve as the stage where Tata Elxsi demonstrates this transformative process. The spotlight will be on their AVENIR™ SDV suite of solutions integrated with Qualcomm Technologies’ Snapdragon Ride™ Flex SoC. This demonstration is poised to highlight authentic use cases, focusing on mixed-critical workloads essential for infotainment and advanced driver assistance systems.
“Our envisioned collaboration with Qualcomm Technologies affirms Tata Elxsi’s leadership and strategic investments in SDV technologies and the future of cloud-native automotive software development,” remarked Shaju S, Vice President & Head of Transportation Business Unit at Tata Elxsi. He further elaborated, “The AVENIR suite combined with Snapdragon Digital Chassis solutions offer an unparalleled performance and scalable solution for automakers aiming to realize the next generation of SDVs. This unique amalgamation of world-class software, system expertise, virtualized models, and ready-to-adopt SDV software presents OEMs with a compelling, future-oriented path to SDVs and next-gen mobility.”
“Tata Elxsi’s demonstration of enabling Snapdragon virtual SoCs for early development within a cloud-native environment utilizing their AVENIR SDV suite presents the developer community with a cost-efficient, early access to target hardware. This significantly trims down the time to market for new application development,” added Laxmi Rayapudi, VP of Automotive Software Product Management at Qualcomm Technologies, Inc. “With access to a leading-edge, high-performance heterogeneous compute environment in the cloud, the collaboration truly pioneers pre-and post-production approaches to software development. It also paves the way for continuous updates of new features throughout the vehicle’s lifecycle, enabling our partners to deliver an enriched experience to the end consumer and forge new business models.”
