Photos Reportedly Intensify Tension Between Meghan and Camilla: Duchess Allegedly Ignored Royal Plea

Images of Meghan Markle apparently resulted in friction with Queen Camilla, leaving the latter reportedly “furious”, as sources suggest.

During a visit to London’s National Theatre in March 2020, Meghan Markle, aged 42, was photographed in her capacity as a patron. This was mere weeks before she officially resigned from her duties. Allegedly, Meghan was adamant about having these photos published immediately, despite appeals to withhold them in order to avoid overshadowing Camilla’s pre-planned discourse on domestic violence.

On that very day, four photographs appeared on the Sussex Royal Instagram account, which Meghan shared with Prince Harry, 38. The images depicted the Duchess, mother of two, attired in a white blouse and pencil skirt, engaging with the National Theatre’s Immersive Storytelling Studio. An insider placed the blame on Meghan for the concurrent release of photos as Camilla’s address.

Reportedly, Meghan was accused of attempting to “steal Camilla’s spotlight”, resulting in the now-Queen being “very upset”. It was claimed that senior royals had requested Meghan to postpone releasing the images so as not to “overshadow” then-Princess of Wales, aged 76, but Meghan “refused to listen”.

According to a royal commentator, it is understandable why Camilla might have been displeased with the situation. They observed that the royal aides strive to prevent scheduling conflicts and incidents where one family member might eclipse another on the same day. Camilla’s alleged frustration was deemed justified, and with Harry and Meghan’s pursuits being independent of the rest of the Royal Family’s operations, such conflicts were seen as inevitable.

The Instagram post, now inaccessible following the closure of Harry and Meghan’s account, read: “Yesterday, The Duchess of Sussex, Royal patron of the National Theatre, visited the Immersive Storytelling Studio in London, where emerging technology like Virtual Reality is being used to develop new forms of emotive storytelling.

“Recently, The Duke and Duchess of Sussex also visited Stanford University, where part of their learning journey included a virtual reality presentation that allows the user to experience life from another’s perspective.

“Aim of this virtual reality approach is to enhance our empathy and connection with one another irrespective of race, age, or nationality. The Duchess is seen here with Nubiya Brandon and her hologram, showcased in the National’s ‘All Kinds of Limbo’ exhibition, currently at the Tate Modern.”

Despite amassing over 500,000 “likes” at the time, the post elicited mixed reactions. Some criticized the duchess for exuding “a bad vibe”, while others described her as “cringey”. This event unfolded during a period when Harry and Meghan had returned to the UK for numerous engagements prior to stepping down as working royals.
